The B List Photos

I take gob and gobs of photos. Most of them meet their fate with the delete button. Then there are a few that I really like but the focus wasn't perfect. A sharp picture is important to me but sometimes it's hard to delete the mildly fuzzy ones...... Here are a few to make my point....

So Jimmy's tail/back are in nice focus...his face, not so much.

This is what Jimmy looks like when he blows his dogwalk contact!
Those two little leaves on the left clinging to the stick? Perfectly focused! Wilson...not quite. Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades as they say......

Always a great poser even when the photographer doesn't quite come through!

 Cute double-retrieve...just not very crisp.

Yes! This is a dog toy! I bought it at Clean Run!
And finally, how I found the boys one time. They don't ordinarily hang out in this room. This was a neatly made bed before they got there!

Not really sure what I walked in on.....
Seeing as how I am low on blog fodder, I am very glad I saved these B-Listers.....They aren't great but they still tell a story!

Running on Empty

It's the doldrums of wintertime for sure...Not much has been going on lately. My photo stash is running low and it's been hard to talk myself into carrying the camera on our walks. We need a photo-worthy adventure to pop up soon because this blog is running on fumes :-)

The snow is all gone, so here is the last of the wintery shots...at least for now.

Another Bev Doolittle....

I've mentioned before how Wilson in a snowy background can imitate the art of Bev Doolittle. Here's another photo from one of our walks where Wilson blends with his background.....

I'm invisible up here! Those little bunnies will never know what hit them!

Another interesting tidbit (well, at least to me), when I look at my blog's search stats in Blogger, never a day goes by that search engines don't bring people here for having referenced Bev Dolittle. She is a very popular artist!

There's a New Toy in Town*

*Listen to this to get the tune stuck in your head first.....

 Kong Stick toy came lately....
There's a new toy in town
Everybody loves it
A new toy in town...
Dogs keep wanting it
A new toy in town....
We don't wanna miss out on it
There's a new toy in town...
We wanna play with it
 A new toy in town...
We're gonna fight over it
A new toy in town...
Ooh, hoo
Everybody's talking 'bout the new toy in town,
Ooh, hoo
Everybody's playing with the new toy in town,
Ooh, hoo
A new toy in town...
A new toy in town ...
A new toy in town...
Never gonna forget it til something new comes along!

The new Kong SafeStix toy is great! Jimmy and Wilson took to it faster than just about any toy they have. It's meant to be a safe alternative to fetching with a real stick. I bought the Medium size and it is perfect for playing tug without having to bend over too much. It's a nice weight for tossing long distance and has a tough yet yielding surface that the dogs enjoy biting. I got mine from Clean Run and they ship it for free! Gotta love that!

Just Enough

Wednesday night into Thursday we had a heavy dusting of snow. It was just enough to provide a photo-op, and, boy-oh-boy, I needed one! I was running low on photos to post.

Jimmy: Quit wasting my time with that stupid camera. There are deer to chase. ***

No corgis in sight but still pretty

A weak sunrise, trying to break through the clouds

Not a great picture of the boys, but I liked the sun.

I love snow days! It's like I have the world to myself! Usually the trail above is too busy with bike commuters and joggers to walk the dogs off-leash. But a little snow changes everything in my favor!

*** Speaking of deer,  I also have a gross little side story. As we walked along the trail, I got out ahead of the boys. I turned to check on them and they had fallen pretty far back. They had their heads buried deep into the bushes and it looked like they might be eating something. Poop, I figured. But they would not call off of it, so I had to backtrack. Lo and behold, they were wolfing down a dead deer that had been opened up by other animals. Lovely! The weather has been well below freezing for days now and the deer looked quite fresh (Ewww! I know), so I wasn't too worried about what they had managed to get down. But the feast had to end. Needless to say, they were not pleased with me.

I know there was a Wolfy Wilson Wordless Wednesday photo in there somewhere, but I let it go ;-)

Have a great weekend, Everyone!

Corgi Distance

There is a term that we have coined: Corgi Distance . The definition for this is: The appropriate amount of personal space that must be maintained between one corgi and another, or one human and a corgi. That distance is the exact length of one corgi leg. If someone invades the corgi's personal space, a leg is thrown out to enforce proper distancing. This space requirement is usually applied when being over-cuddled by a human. The leg is applied to the human's chest. It is also applied to a companion corgi at nap time to prevent overheating. While I don't have photographic illustration of the human/corgi push-off....here's what Corgi Distance looks like between two canine friends.......

A Rat Tale

Here's a little illustrated story about Wilson.....

First some background info.....

I picked up Wilson as a 14 week old pup at a big dog show in Lexington, KY. We drove about 10 hours and met up with Marla at the motel most of the people were staying at. After such a long drive, we of course spent the night. We went out to dinner with a bunch of Cardi-folk and Wilson spent the night in our room. I guess we met with Marla's approval and we were allowed to take Wilson home the next day. She taped up his ears, and said, "Here, take this, it's his rat. He loves it." His "rat" was actually a Kong brand small squirrel stuffie that had been well loved, chewed, and soiled. But, forever after, we called it his Rat. We've gone through several iterations of the Rat as they've worn out and gotten just too gross. Wilson is delighted every time we present him with a new one. He has a little dance he likes to do that we call "the bucking bronco". It is exactly what it sounds like, he bucks back and forth like a horse, all the while wagging his tail furiously. Pure joy and glee! Well, he got a new Rat for Christmas this year and that makes Jimmy mad! This is the one toy Wilson will defend fiercely and we are watchful lest it turns into a real fight.

Yesterday, we were playing indoor fetch, and Wilson wanted to use the Rat instead of his usual Cuz. Jimmy was a tad miffed but the game went along OK. When it ended, however, a power struggle ensued. Jimmy wanted that Rat and he wasn't going to take NO! for an answer!

This is mine. Back off!

Read my lips! MINE!
Too bad! I'm taking it!
At this point there was lots of growling going on. I stepped in to settle things down a bit. I took it away from Jimmy and gave it back to the rightful owner.

Ha! Ha! Jimmy! I told you it was mine AND she likes me better! Neener!

Wilson still wasn't comfortable with the situation and ran around trying to hide the Rat from Jimmy. Look at that glaring expression.

Try to take it now, you jackass!

Even with his back up against a wall, Wilson still wasn't pleased, and made a break for it..........

Jimmy: Do you really think you can out run me?! Really!!??
Wilson fled to his favorite perch in the guest bedroom.....

I'll just keep a-hold of this, thank you very much.
At this point, I had other things to go do than act as referee, so I took the rat away from Wilson and put it out of reach on the dresser. Both boys needed a calming time-out. Jimmy had other thoughts........

Just a little higher...almost...almost......
How do you like me now?!

All of about  two seconds later.......

OK, I'm bored with it. What can we do now?

Have a great weekend, Everyone! Hope y'all get to play with your favorite toy!

A Dose of Vitamin D...but NCC*

*NCC....No Corgi Content

I don't think we've seen the sun in my area for about a week now. It hasn't been very cold, just constantly overcast or raining. It might snow this afternoon and then the next three days are predicted to be cold and sunny (Yea!). But, to get through the last of the cloud cover, here are my last three beach pictures until our next trip. I absolutely LOVE being on the beach as the sun goes down. The light is just so beautiful!

Just Jimmy

I am down to my last few photos from our quick trip to Myrtle Beach. These are some of Jimmy I thought were worthy of keeping and posting...

Those EYES!

Just Beachy!

There's no doubt he's a herding dog!

May I Have This Dance?

Hey... It's my turn to lead....

The complicated airborn gargouillade ballet move

Get OFF my toes, you oaf!

Sigh. Wilson and Jimmy.....not the best dance partners, I guess......
