Tongue and Tails!

You have probably heard the expression "Tux and Tails"......referring to the dresscode for a formal gala. It's an expression that goes well with Jimmy's AKC registered name: Fine Creek's Sharp Dressed Man, chosen, obviously for his tuxedo-colored coat. Well in this instance, I think I'll coin a new phrase for Jimmy, "Tongue and Tails"....His tongue is hanging so long after a good romp on the beach, it's hard to tell which is longer, his tail or his tongue!

Alternatively, I guess I could have called this "Bright-eyed and Bushy-tailed" because that fits as well. You can definitely see he was having a blast! I got a whole series of shots while he was in this gleeful mood and it was hard to pick a favorite! I think his eyes in this one are what won me over.

We went to Myrtle Beach two weekends ago, and I am just now going through my photos! It was a very short trip to turn our condo over to the rental management company, so I didn't take many, but I sure am slow getting them posted!

I'll finish with this one taken from the balcony. A cloudy sunrise over the Atlantic is actually a lot more interesting than clear blue.....

Early Morning Moment

The Last Sunrise of 2014

One of the beauties of being at an East Coast beach is that you see the sunrise before anyone else does. I always make a point of taking a quick look out of the balcony at first light. Not all sunrises are worthy of a photo. When there are no clouds at all, the drama is missing. But on 2014's last morning, there were just enough to make it worth snapping a couple of pictures.

Here's the sun just peeping over the horizon....

The light changes quickly as the sun rises above the waterline....

Those little black speckles are a large flock of seagulls

And I love how that light flows into our condo.....That yellow glow is just how it looked.

I don't think Wilson was pleased with the early wake-up call.....

I did check for the first sunrise of 2015, but alas, it was a cloudless sky. I certainly can't complain about a blue sky day at the beach as a great way to start the year, but photo worthy it was not. I settled back in for a bit more rest.

Just Enough

Wednesday night into Thursday we had a heavy dusting of snow. It was just enough to provide a photo-op, and, boy-oh-boy, I needed one! I was running low on photos to post.

Jimmy: Quit wasting my time with that stupid camera. There are deer to chase. ***

I love snow days! It's like I have the world to myself! Usually the trail above is too busy with bike commuters and joggers to walk the dogs off-leash. But a little snow changes everything in my favor!

*** Speaking of deer,  I also have a gross little side story. As we walked along the trail, I got out ahead of the boys. I turned to check on them and they had fallen pretty far back. They had their heads buried deep into the bushes and it looked like they might be eating something. Poop, I figured. But they would not call off of it, so I had to backtrack. Lo and behold, they were wolfing down a dead deer that had been opened up by other animals. Lovely! The weather has been well below freezing for days now and the deer looked quite fresh (Ewww! I know), so I wasn't too worried about what they had managed to get down. But the feast had to end. Needless to say, they were not pleased with me.

I know there was a Wolfy Wilson Wordless Wednesday photo in there somewhere, but I let it go ;-)

Just 'Cause........

 ....I like them! The pictures and the dogs! I was out the other morning just before the sun was up and clearing the trees. There was actually a pretty sunrise behind the boys, but this is how the camera caught it.

The boys gave such a focused look at me. They are really getting this whole "posing" thing!

On this one, I liked how the light outlined Jimmy so nicely. He looks quite thoughtful here.

Early Morning

A cup of coffee and this view: What a way to start the day!

We had some gorgeous sunny and hot weather for a few days. However, the cold snap that has hit the country in many areas has also arrived in Myrtle Beach. It went from the high 80's/low 90's to not quite reaching 70! Today is overcast and misty over the ocean. The boys don't mind the change though!

The First Light of Day

I am, by nature, a morning person. Sleeping late for me is 7 am. I enjoy being up when the world is still quiet and I can have time to myself. Of course, Wilson and Jimmy will follow me downstairs and begin their breakfast vigil. They watch out the back door for the deer or fox to go by, chew a bone, or doze on the dog bed while they wait for their food.

At the eastern end of our yard is a row of Leyland Cypress. The sun has to rise high enough to shine through the upper boughs and then into our kitchen over the sink. As a result, the first bit of sunlight shines in as strongly defined rays. This weekend Jimmy managed to accidentally place himself in the direct path of that first blazing ray. It was amusing and photo-worthy :-)

Didn't his Mama ever tell him not to look into the eyes of the sun?
