Sheep Herding for the Suburban Corgi
When getting out to the country for some lessons on herding sheep isn't possible, you can always go Jimmy's route. But be warned, it's noisy! Turn down those speakers.....
Have a great weekend, Everyone!

Wilson's Toy
We had a very respectable eight inches of snow on Tuesday. The weather was so cold it was a nice light-weight snow, unusual for our area. Just like little kids, the snow really gets Jimmy and Wilson excited.
Here they are, out for a short romp in the back yard. It was about 5 degrees out, so we didn't last long!
After looking at these pictures, you might be wondering why I titled this post "Wilson's Toy".....Well, Jimmy couldn't find his own usual toy (a Cuz) under all that snow, so there was no way he was going to let Wilson be the one with a toy. Yes, he can be quite the BRAT !!!
I was all bundled up in many layers of clothes, including my ski bibs and had my knee brace tightly wrapped around the outside of it. It may have been COLD, but it sure was wonderful to be outdoors!

Monday Mischief: I SAID Play with Me!
That fit of boredom that overtook Jimmy the other day, also hit Wilson. Here he is giving me his best play-bow and loudly demanding some one-on-one toy time of his own.....

Just to Set the Record Straight
No matter what The Dog Snobs would have you believe, the photos you are about to see are of a DOG TOY. It's a Kong SafeStick to be precise. I've posted about it before, receiving a couple of dubious comments in the process.
That being said, in a fit of boredom the other day, Jimmy grabbed the long ignored toy out of the toy bin.
Here's his "come hither" look.......

There's a New Toy in Town*
*Listen to this to get the tune stuck in your head first.....
Kong Stick toy came lately....
There's a new toy in town
Everybody loves it
A new toy in town...
Dogs keep wanting it
A new toy in town....
We don't wanna miss out on it
There's a new toy in town...
We wanna play with it
A new toy in town...
We're gonna fight over it
A new toy in town...
Ooh, hoo
Everybody's talking 'bout the new toy in town,
Ooh, hoo
Everybody's playing with the new toy in town,
Ooh, hoo
A new toy in town...
A new toy in town ...
A new toy in town...
Never gonna forget it til something new comes along!
The new Kong SafeStix toy is great! Jimmy and Wilson took to it faster than just about any toy they have. It's meant to be a safe alternative to fetching with a real stick. I bought the Medium size and it is perfect for playing tug without having to bend over too much. It's a nice weight for tossing long distance and has a tough yet yielding surface that the dogs enjoy biting. I got mine from Clean Run and they ship it for free! Gotta love that!

A Rat Tale
First some background info.....
I picked up Wilson as a 14 week old pup at a big dog show in Lexington, KY. We drove about 10 hours and met up with Marla at the motel most of the people were staying at. After such a long drive, we of course spent the night. We went out to dinner with a bunch of Cardi-folk and Wilson spent the night in our room. I guess we met with Marla's approval and we were allowed to take Wilson home the next day. She taped up his ears, and said, "Here, take this, it's his rat. He loves it." His "rat" was actually a Kong brand small squirrel stuffie that had been well loved, chewed, and soiled. But, forever after, we called it his Rat. We've gone through several iterations of the Rat as they've worn out and gotten just too gross. Wilson is delighted every time we present him with a new one. He has a little dance he likes to do that we call "the bucking bronco". It is exactly what it sounds like, he bucks back and forth like a horse, all the while wagging his tail furiously. Pure joy and glee! Well, he got a new Rat for Christmas this year and that makes Jimmy mad! This is the one toy Wilson will defend fiercely and we are watchful lest it turns into a real fight.
Yesterday, we were playing indoor fetch, and Wilson wanted to use the Rat instead of his usual Cuz. Jimmy was a tad miffed but the game went along OK. When it ended, however, a power struggle ensued. Jimmy wanted that Rat and he wasn't going to take NO! for an answer!

| This is mine. Back off! |
![]() |
| Read my lips! MINE! |
![]() |
| Too bad! I'm taking it! |
![]() |
| Ha! Ha! Jimmy! I told you it was mine AND she likes me better! Neener! |
Wilson still wasn't comfortable with the situation and ran around trying to hide the Rat from Jimmy. Look at that glaring expression.
![]() |
| Try to take it now, you jackass! |
Even with his back up against a wall, Wilson still wasn't pleased, and made a break for it..........
![]() |
| Jimmy: Do you really think you can out run me?! Really!!?? |
![]() |
| I'll just keep a-hold of this, thank you very much. |
![]() | |
| Just a little higher...almost...almost...... |
![]() |
| How do you like me now?! |
All of about two seconds later.......
![]() |
| OK, I'm bored with it. What can we do now? |
Have a great weekend, Everyone! Hope y'all get to play with your favorite toy!

Tug-A-Palooza!
We have been having the rainiest, most dreary month of May. There seems to have been endless thunderstorms and our lawn is a mushy, muddy mess. The result is very little yard time for Jimmy and Wilson, shorter walks, and too much time spent cleaning feet and under-carriages. The other result is a bad case of cabin fever! Today, during a rare sunny break in the clouds, the boys got a chance to vent!

| It's mine! No! It's mine! |

| You let go first! |

| Wilson: Maybe if I poke him in the eye, it'll make him drop it! |

| Wilson's view |
Next came a little one-on-one time with me doing the tugging. They can hold on so tightly you can swing them in a circle. Probably not a good idea for spinal reasons!
![]() |
| Wilson: Does this picture make my nose look big? |
![]() |
| Jimmy: Yuck!This thing tastes like Wilson's breath! |
The next couple of shots are a tad R rated.....just sayin'!
Whenever Jimmy is engaged in a good game of tug with me, Wilson always moves in for the hump. He knows Jimmy is too greedy to release the toy, and therefore Wilson can safely move in withhout Jimmy trying to stop him. Jimmy is usually the boss, so I guess this is Wilson's moment.

| Oh, the shock and horror on Jimmy's face! |

| Jimmy: Maybe if I just close my eyes, it will all go away! |
