Wilson Was Wagering Whether Walking on Water Was Worth the Worry on Wordless Wednesday

No worry folks! I had Wilson in a posed Stay position. He was not going one step further onto the ice. I was holding the treat bag afterall ;-)

The Face That Launched a Thousand Ships....Sticks!
I posted this on FaceBook the other day, so please pardon my repetition if you saw it over there. I'm doing a bit of paraphrasing with the title of this blog post. The expression came straight to my mind when I saw this photo, but I must confess I had to google it to see the origins.
And here's a bonus photo.....A gaggle of geese flew in to reclaim the lake while the boys were playing water fetch. Here are the first two, the bravest ones, I guess. They were not successful!

Swim Jim!
I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend. We had some gorgeous weather on Saturday and Sunday and while overcast yesterday, still quite pleasant. The week ahead holds very hot and humid days so we are in for a big change!
This time of year, while there's still plenty of rain, the local lake is great for swimming. The water is nice and clear, and the algae hasn't begun to take over. It's very hard to keep the boys out if they are running free. I am pretty sure swimming is their all time favorite exercise. They can go as crazy as they want playing fetch, but they don't overheat. Of course it does end in a bath at the end of the weekend, but living in the moment as they do, that never occurs to them until they see me coming with the hose!
For today, we have Jimmy. He has very expressive eyes when he's at this level of excitement. Either that, or the water was really, really cold!
If you've ever done any boating, you know that you must turn on your running lights at dusk. Jimmy's white tail tip reminds me of the stern light on the back of a boat.
Saving my favorite for last, I love the reflection of his tail and his little white paw just below the surface of the water.....

Which One Is Not Like The Others?.......but NCC*
*NCC.....No Corgi Content......
I thought I'd spare everyone more of the old header photos (at least for this morning!), and share a sighting that really amused me.
On one of my walks down by the neighborhood lake, I saw this scene at a distance. It was across the lake on the other shore. The photo is not the best as it was at the limit of my 70-200 telephoto lens. Be sure to click to enlarge so you can really see it.....
The funny thing is, the turtles are so paranoid that movement from me, even all the way across the lake, is usually enough for them to all scatter and head under water. But that Canada Goose doesn't bother them one bit. They almost look like friends!

They've Got It All Wrong!
Down by the large lake in my neighborhood there is a sign........
But they've got it so wrong!
This time of year, the geese are everywhere, and this trail is a mess! I call the walk Running the Gauntlet and usually avoid it. It's one of my favorite areas but is exhausting, what with all the "Jimmy! NO!, Wilson! Drop It!" that is required. Today I went for photo-effect and let Jimmy get in a few bites ;-)
Here's what the sign really should say......
But they've got it so wrong!

The View From Up Here
I guess for a height-challenged dog like a Corgi, even the small boost of a bench improves the view. Jimmy was trying to keep his eye on some Canada geese that were paddling out of his sight line on the big lake in my neighborhood. He is after all an honorary member of the Geese Police, or so he thinks.

Captions Please!
This picture of Jimmy made me laugh! He never swims with his tail straight up in the air like that!
Let me know how you would caption this picture......

The Lake.....but NCC
With sunrise so late these days, it's easy to be out and about for an "early light" walk. The past couple of mornings I've walked down by our neighborhood's large lake. With the cool morning temps, the lake gives off a pretty mist. The water is very still and the reflections are lovely. Here are a couple of views of the lake and surrounding vegetation in the final throes of fall color. No corgi content today but still worthy of a post!
Have a great weekend, everyone!
