One Thousand Five Hundred Posts!

I know you all come here on Wednesdays to see if I was able to pull off another "W" themed title for Wilson. I am afraid I'll have to disappoint you today. It is something of a milestone here on the blog and I want to address that instead.

This is my 1500th post on the blog! Now I know a lot of bloggers out there are way more prolific than that, but I am still pretty proud of sticking with this little project through so many years and so many posts! June marks eight years running of A Tail of Two Cardis. I've had close to half a million pages views, coming from 116 countries around the world. I've "met" a lot of people and made friends I would never have known without this blog. All in all, a very rewarding experience, even when it is a challenge to keep it going at times.

When I hit my 500th and 1000th posts, I had little contests/giveaways to celebrate. I want to continue that tradition. My giveaways always ask a little something from my readers in the form of captions or a comment, and this one won't be any different. Wilson is taking a break so I have a photo of Jimmy from this week. When I downloaded this photo to my laptop and saw it full size, it immediately brought a painting to mind (years ago, I minored in Art History in college). The painting is very well known so this should not be too difficult of a task. I'll even give a big hint by giving my photo a name.....

Jimmy's World

So to be eligible for my prize, tell me what painting I am thinking of and who the artist is. Of course, more than one person will probably get the answer right, so I will still use random.org to pick my winner. Even a good guess will still get you in the running, so don't be afraid to leave a comment. The prize will be a $20 gift card to The White Dog Bone Company. It has both dog and cat products, even bird products, so there should be something for anyone who reads my blog. Plus, I will be able to just email you the prize so no worries about sharing your home address with me!

Who is the artist and what is the name of the painting? GO!

  3. Okay... I'm pretty impressed with myself... (Business major here! No art classes! But I do love art...) I thought it looked reminiscent of Wyeth's work so googled his famous paintings and it's Chrstina's World - which in the thumbnail (and without my glasses on....) looked for a moment like she was nekid! Hard to tell if Jimmy is naked in this photo. :) Congrats on 1500! Wow. I need to look and see how many I've done.

  4. Wow, I saw it immediately! Christina's World by Andrew Wyeth.

Years ago, I enjoyed a visit to the Wyeth studios in Chadds Ford, PA. If you haven't visited, it's worth it.

Congratulations on the 1500th post! I'm only a few months behind you (if I can get my blog backup working again--I'm afraid to do anything without a backup system).

I know just how hard it is to keep a blog going so long. And I also love the many dog and human friends I've made blogging.

  5. I had to do the Google. My apologies for not being knowledgeable about art. :-( It is Christina's World by Andrew Wyeth.

And congrats on hitting this major milestone. Blogging can be difficult, so Kudos to you for sticking with it!

  7. Congratulation on 1500 posts!! We are just getting close to the 500 mark :D I have no idea what painting you thought of, but I am guessing the other commenters are right. That is a nice picture of Jimmy though!

  11. Congratulations on your 1,500 post! That's a lot of posts in just 8 years. We've been blogging for 5 years, but we are very, very far behind you. :)

And the painting reminds us of Christina's World by Andrew Wyeth, is that correct?

  12. Congratulations! We love your blog, and we're glad that you've been so prolific and have stuck with it. I am not knowledgeable about art, and I just cheated by looking at other answers. So, count me out of the competition (but I love the photo!). I didn't figure it out by myself!!!! Congrats!

  13. Christina's World by Andrew Wyath....we so seldom ever get contest pictures. CONGRATULATIONS on 1500 and EIGHT years. There are so many bloggers who sort of just peter our quickly, so take a bow.

  14. You have so many awesome guesses on the painting, so I won't even try it. But I do want to say congratulations on this milestone! That's an amazing accomplishment. Hope you stick with it!
