Monday Mischief: In All Their Gritty Glory!

The beach is a wonderful place to visit. I love the sound of the ocean waves, the salty smell to the air, even the piercing cries of the gulls when they spot you eating something. But there's one thing that makes living at the beach a lot of work.....sand! It gets everywhere and when you have  a couple of thick-coated corgis along for the ride, their coats soak it up like a sponge!

Case in point.....

Extreme close-up.....just in case Jimmy didn't look very dirty.....

The boys love their days when they get to ride the jetski with us and hang out on the beach all day. There's swimming, running, barking, eating....all those things dogs love to do. But it does end with a very sudsy bath which still doesn't get all the sand out! As their coats dry out, they rain sand!

  1. Looks like they had a blast though. I think Torrey would love the beach, but her fur is so thick it may be a nightmare.

  2. Looks like they just got done running around, having a great time and are taking a little break. Good luck getting all that sand out of their fur :)

  4. I prefer sand to the dead fish and seals my guys love to find and roll in.

  5. Ugh, yes, the sand is a nightmare! When we used to go to the beach to walk 3X per week, there was always sand everywhere, even though I'd hose Rita down every time after we came home. I don't miss that darn sand!

  6. That's just like Pike! Nola's short coat is perfectly clean when she shakes off, but Pike takes a good scrub.

  7. Oh, yes -- we recognize that gritty look. I have the best "dog chamois" I use on Reg after a run on the beach. (Soggy Doggy Super Shammy) Works wonders on a wet, sandy Cardi.

  8. In good weather, we have to be OUTSIDE dogs. Otherwise, it's a dunk in the laundry tub. But it IS worth it.

  9. Do you have an outside shower? I've heard those can be super helpful in keeping the sand out of your house!
