Now Is The Season of Jim's Discontent

Richard the III's soliloquy as re-worked for poor Jimmy each year at this time....

Now is the season of Jim's discontent
Made scary summer by these pops and bangs;
And all the clouds of sulphur smoke upon our house
In the deep basement of home he hides buried.
Now Jim bounds with fearful leaps;
His stubby legs scramble for places unseen;
His once stern manner chang’d to nervous glances,
These dreadful pyrotechnics causing frightful dances.

Jimmy's Kryptonite

In case you are worried....Puppy pictures will return tomorrow. I still have lots to share!

  3. Mom blasts the volume on our TV so loud we are deaf afterwards but it helps muffle the bangs

  4. Poor Jim! I hate the season with the fireworks. Typically they don't bother my dogs but I know some dogs and some vets really hate them. I wish people would be respectful. I do try and run the air and keep the windows closed when I know they will be taking place.

    Thanks for joining the blog hop.

  5. Oh boy, I'm sorry Jimmy has to hate fireworks, that is a terrible anxiety.

  6. We do not like this time of year either. Mom says it is almost not worth the day off from work on the 4th of July to have to listen to fireworks and Bailey barking half the night

  11. Awwww....poor Jimmy. It is the season for all the loud bangs. Leroy's never been phased by them but as Sherman gets older I can see he disapproves.

  13. Wow - a fireworks stand is something I haven't seen in a LONG time. One of the bonuses of living in a drought state - fireworks are banned (except for the big shows - and stupid SeaWorld shooting them off every night). Actually I guess it's a good thing SW does shoot them off because it has made Rita quite immune to their noises. Sorry to hear that Jim hates them!! (Love the soliloquy though!)

  14. My dogs don't mind fireworks, but I hate the recklessness of them. We have them going off in our neighborhood for weeks before and after the 4th and New Year's. Even though they've been outlawed in city limits. Grr.

  15. Ugh...I hate it when they start so early too...the 4th is still two weeks away, but our neighbors started setting them off last night. I had to close all the windows. Our beagle Cricket nervously paces around. Our Lab mix Luke just goes to the basement for the rest of the night. :(
    Luckily, this time, they didn't go on for too long, but not long after that the thunderstorms rolled through!

  16. Bwa ha ha! Is there anything better than Shakespeare and dogs (says the crazy lady of something wagging this way comes)?

    Poor Jimmie. I hope you get plenty of rain to keep the yahoos inside.
