We watch movies down in our basement. John enjoys keeping up with audio/video technology and has set up a very nice home theater system (on
which I, when alone, can't figure out how to play a movie! LOL!). It's not a large area, so instead of a sofa, we each have our own recliner. Being a basement it's extra cool down there, and the cement floor holds onto the cool temps year round. Jimmy and Wilson enjoy hanging out with us while we watch the movies. (
It has absolutely nothing to do with the tendon chews they get each time!) While there is wall-to-wall carpet over the cement, the floor is pretty darn hard. Jimmy loves to lie in John's lap so he avoids any discomfort the hard floor might convey. Wilson and I do not have that same relationship. I don't like to be sat on by a 40 pound furball for two hours and Wilson does not like to share the chair with me either. Too much body heat even for a cool room! We've tried putting a dog bed down for him, but for some reason he won't use it. Normally he just lies flat along the wall behind my chair. After a while, one of two things happens. He gets up and goes upstairs and sleeps on the sofa until the movie ends, or, from my reclined, feet up position, I will see a pair of eyes peeping at me from the front of the chair. Wilson will keep sitting there, looking at my face, until I get the hint. If I put the foot extension back down and get off the chair, Wilson will instantly hop up and settle into
my spot! I then go sit on the hard floor! If the movie still has a long way to go, I might even drag out the dog bed. LOL!
This has happened on many, many occasions. Wilson has trained me well. My camera is never down in the basement. The last time he pulled this little stunt, he looked so smug and comfy, I had to see if I could get a picture. I ran and got my camera. Of course I didn't get the peeping eyes, but you can see the rest of the story.........
Here he is in a contented little ball within seconds of taking my chair........
And a close up....He is practically smiling he's so pleased with himself!
And finally, here he is giving me the old stink-eye for disturbing his sleep with too many flashes from the camera....
Is your dog this spoiled?
No, can't imagine sitting on the floor so the dog could have the chair. However, we have gone above and beyond to find ways to make them comfy.
ReplyDeleteLOL think my peeps would do that too. She is such a soft touch as well. Have a marvellous Monday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
He's not spoiled - he's well-loved! Adorable photos and I loved the story!
ReplyDeleteWe've given up our spot on the couch for Teach on more than one occasion (but never for the floor just another spot on the couch or move to the recliner). What's even better is when we have family over and they sit in "his" spot. He does his best to convince them (or us) to move so he can have it. LOL!! Gotta love a dog.
ReplyDeleteI dont think a dog can be too spoiled, unless he is allowed to do things that are not in his best interest or that cause harm to himself or others. So the chair thing is fine, I love the story
ReplyDeleteretro rover
I am at this moment looking at Torrey in the chair, looking exactly like Wilson.
ReplyDeleteBWAHAHAHAHAHAHAA! Oh no no no. My dogs are not that spoiled. Not at all.
ReplyDeleteShe deserves the stink eye for that interruption!
ReplyDeleteLily & Edward
What a funny story! If you come to our house, you'll often find us on the floor, while the dog is on the sofa! (We're weird though - we actually like to lay on the floor! It helps my back, and the hubs likes to stretch while we watch TV.)
ReplyDeleteMr. N loves stealing the boyfriend's pillows as soon as he gets up.
ReplyDeleteAhahahahaha!!! That's so funny - he DOES indeed look pretty self-satisfied with winning the chair, yet again. ;)
ReplyDeleteBlueberry isn't content to NOT be near me so there's really no escape. Thankfully, at least in the summer she'll put a few inches between us but in the winter - it's like I have a Blueberry appendage.
SHE has a recliner that dogs aren't allowed on....bwahaahaa....that lasted about 20 minutes. First Daisy laid claim and now it's Bella's. SHE rarely gets to use it! No we're not spoiled. We just get treated the way we DESERVE to be.
ReplyDeleteGo Wilson.
XXXOOO Bella Roxy & Dui
OMD! That is so much like Chez Honey. I've sat on the floor (or perched on the book case) too many times to count.
ReplyDeleteOur old house has small rooms so we only have a love seat where we watch movies. Lately I've been eying arm chairs at the Salvation Army so I can have a comfy place to sit when Mike and Honey kick me off the couch. :)
HA! What a stinker! I would be reluctant to move him from that comfy spot, though...he looks way too cute and content all cuddled up :)
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing wrong with a spoiled dog. Your basement sounds like mine-carpet over concrete, and delightfully cool.
