My big gift this Christmas was a new video camera. My old point and shoot really didn't do a very good job, so I asked Santa for a nice Hi-Def model. I didn't get anything super-fancy since I'll be handing off to others to film me at agility trials, but it's still a great little camera! It's a Samsung.
This weekend I spent time learning how to use it and upload the videos, etc. So, of course, the first thing I decided to film in full 1080p High Definition, was Jimmy and his rope swing.
Heeerrreee's Jimmy!
I think he likes that rope swing! I need to try to take some videos of my girls...I don't have a good technique, though. I tend to shoot the sky and the ground a lot!
ReplyDeleteI say if the pooch is willing to give us a push... get on! :-)
ReplyDeleteStrong recommendation: Get a video tripod. It will have a "fluid head" so you can pan without jerking. I would rather watch good SD video than shaky HD video.
ReplyDeleteI have a Velbon D-7000 http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/366741-REG/Velbon_DV_7000_DV_7000_Tripod_with_2_Way.html
Downside of the D7000's 2-way head is you can't tilt your camera on its side, so you can't use it for your SLR or point-and-shoot in portrait mode, but it is perfectly fine for landscape.
A CX-480/F http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/795777-REG/Velbon_CX_480_F_3_SEC_FLUID_GEARED_3_WAY.html
or a CX-586/F http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/795778-REG/Velbon_CX_586_F_3_SEC_FLUID_GEARED_3_WAY.html would do.
The extra weight of the D-7000 means a much steadier camera, but it is a bit of a pain to haul to the trial.

Great video. Cardis are so funny.
ReplyDeleteJimmy is so cute! Quite the character:-))
ReplyDeleteTripods are great! I got one for my new camera as well. It is a Bower, adjustments all over the place and is easy to carry and hook up. Have fun!
love it! Sounds like someone was tromping through some sticky muddy water in the background. That camera has HD sound too! :)
ReplyDeleteHee hee...Jimmy's tail is what's cracking me up, he's obviously having a really good time!
