And now for something completely different

Today was a gorgeous, cool, low humidity day. We decided to take a long motorcycle ride out to the Blue Ridge Mountains. As a destination, we picked Luray Caverns, the largest underground caverns on the east coast. It really is an amazing place, even if it is all tamed down for the tourists. It has a mile long path winding down 140 ft below ground and then back up again. Very, very cool scenery! It took thousands and thousands of years to form these mineral structures.

The water flow that created these formations is still drip, drip, dripping to this day....

The whole place is just incredible eye candy!

I included this shot with people to give a sense of scale......

This was growing out of the ceiling.

And my very favorite section down there was the undergound lake. The reflections were just so gorgeous!

And this is the view from the topside......Very pretty scenery here too. Oh, and believe it or not, dogs were welcome in the caverns with just one caveat...You had to carry them for the entire walk through the caverns. Somehow I don't think I could carry a Cardi for a mile!
