Ready to Rumble!

It was a beautiful day yesterday and we spent as much time as possible outdoors. Jimmy decided it was time for a game of chase and extended "the look" to Cedar to get things going. It worked!

11 Months!

I forgot to post this on the 20th of the month....Cedar is 11 months old! The picture was taken on the day. Cedar is following in Wilson's footsteps and is being a good model!

After Dinner Crazies!

The dogs are always frisky after a good meal. This is especially true of Cedar who is BURSTING with energy most of the day! Last night, he tried his darnedest to get Jimmy to chase him. He zoomed this way and that, until, at last, Jimmy took up the chase!!!

When He's Not Sure He Wants to Come In

When Jim's been out in the yard for a while, and I call him to come in......

Just a little peak around the corner so maybe I won't see him.....

Bonfire Buddies

The other night we fired up (pun intended of course!) our little backyard firepit. It's really not much more than an empty grill that can hold small logs. But it can hold quite a blaze when it first gets going.

Here are Jimmy and John lit by the flames. It looks like John is telling the traditional scary campfire tale. Just look at Jimmy's wary face! I wonder what story he was telling? A horror story for Jimmy would be that we ran out of smores!

Hey, I'm on a roll here! This was my third post in one week! Woohoo!

Have a great weekend, Everyone!

Wilson's Toy

We had a very respectable eight inches of snow on Tuesday. The weather was so cold it was a nice light-weight snow, unusual for our area. Just like little kids, the snow really gets Jimmy and Wilson excited.

Here they are, out for a short romp in the back yard. It was about 5 degrees out, so we didn't last long!

After looking at these pictures, you might be wondering why I titled this post "Wilson's Toy".....Well, Jimmy couldn't find his own usual toy (a Cuz) under all that snow, so there was no way he was going to let Wilson be the one with a toy. Yes, he can be quite the BRAT !!!

I was all bundled up in many layers of clothes, including my ski bibs and had my knee brace tightly wrapped around the outside of it. It may have been COLD, but it sure was wonderful to be outdoors!

Always on the Wrong Side of the Door!

Today is not a particularly cold day, upper thirties, off/on sun, no wind....pretty much good temps for double-coated dogs like a Corgi. Jimmy and Wilson noticed a squirrel trespassing in the backyard and wanted to go out. NOW! I let them out and they quickly ran off the intruder.

I look up from my computer just a couple of minutes later..........

OK! We want back in! Open the door!

Jimmy: I said we want back in!
(Yes, my windows are really as dirty as they look!)
Less than five minutes passes......

Jimmy: Crap! The squirrel's back!
Jimmy's distress calls bring Wilson running as well..............

OK! We want back out!

How long will they stay out this time?
Not to worry, Jimmy and Wilson....I live to serve you! Even if I have to hobble over on crutches! LOL!

Snow Fencing

Here's what I imagine (and hope) will be the last snow shot of the year......

Wilson was not pleased about posing in the extra-slushy snow. Oh, the things he has to do to earn his keep!

This weekend kicks off the agility trial season for Jimmy and me. Despite having been trialing for about the past seven years now, I still get butterflies in my stomach. Please send lots of Double-Q karma my way.

Have a great weekend, Everyone!
(Qs or no Qs, I know I'll be having fun!)

Another Bad Throw.....

When the boys return from their morning walk, they always like a nice game of fetch before heading back inside. I guess they need to burn off the last of their energy. Occasionally, as I've mentioned before , my aim isn't the greatest. This time, the chuck-it squirrel wedged a leg in the branches of a tree.....

The chuck-it is Wilson's toy, so he tried his best to retrieve it, to no avail......

It's mine! I've got it!
Wilson's struggle looked like a lot of fun to Jimmy, who of course had to horn in!

That's about 75 pounds of corgi hanging from the chuck-it!
As Jimmy amps up, Wilson backs off. He knows what happens when Jim gets over-excited!

Can you see Wilson's whiskers? He's ready to snag it if Jimmy pulls it loose.

Jimmy is nothing if not determined!

Then, all of the sudden, after much yanking, pulling, shaking and gripping.......
....the plastic "foot" ripped off and Jimmy landed on his butt! Splat!

Can't believe I caught it on camera!
This squirrel is on its last legs ;-) Pun-intended!

Not Gonna Budge!

A little while back, on a gorgeous fall day, I was out in the backyard, raking the leaves into little piles. Of course, the boys were out there with me, supervising. They plopped down and I raked. Eventually I would rake too near to them, they would get offended, and move to a new spot that had not yet been raked. This happened several times. Eventually, as my chore wound to an end, the boys clung to the last un-raked spot! Here they are, trying to hold onto the last little patch.....

We claim this spot in the name of dogs everywhere!

We won't budge!................Wait! What's that about a biscuit in the kitchen?!

Currently, my yard looks like I never even raked it clean, so this little scene will be repeated in the near future. Dog vs Rake II....coming to a blog near you soon!

Agility in Small Spaces

I've got a very small yard. The house, driveway, deck and a patio sit on just 1/5 of an acre. Add to that several landscaping beds and a backyard that isn't level, and I've got very little space to set up my agility equipment.
Having grown up in the country with a large yard, when we bought the house, I rued how small a yard it had. Soon enough, after adding trees and beds, mulching, trimming and mowing became a chore, and I was glad the yard was small. But along came my agility obsession, and I was once again wishing for a large flat yard! Sigh. Luckily, the fabulous training center I use is only a few miles away, so I do have access to the full range of equipment, but only on class night or if I sign up for a private lesson. So, I have to make due with my small yard if I want to practice at home. Yesterday was such a day. The huge storms had passed through my area leaving behind a gorgeous low humidity day.

Here's how my yard looks, set up for some fun.....

Click to enlarge, where you can see the king of the "only-at-home" table!

Giving a nice tight wrap turn on the Double

My Pac-N-Go tunnel...Love it!

Jimmy loves the weaves!
And finally, my "dogwalk"....Classy, huh? But there is room for a 2on2off!

I haven't attended an agility trial since my dismal showing at the National Specialty. I didn't get in the one I tried for in mid May, I skipped the 3-dayer over Memorial Day weekend to keep in the good graces at home (if you know what I mean....), so I will finally have one in mid-June. I'm looking forward to trying it again, but mainly just to see me friends and hang out.

So Freakin' Cute !!! ......but NCC*

* No Corgi Content

....Looking out the master bedroom window which faces our back yard. This is just beyond our fence, an area that is popular with the local wildlife.

Momma Deer is looking a little slim/worn out from feeding the family.

Twins!

Once Wilson and Jimmy noticed them and let go a loud ruckus, they blended away into the scrub.
