Digging Out

Here's a preview of photos to come! We got somewhere close to THIRTY inches of snow. We lost power for nine hours and I can't tell you how many times I flicked a light switch expecting a light to come on. We did lots of shoveling all day yesterday just to keep up, and there's plenty more to do today. I'll post more pictures later.....

Winter Scenery

Another winter storm, one we are warned will have near-blizzard conditions tonight and the possiblity of 24 inches of snow, is just now making its appearance. These pictures are from last weekend when the sun shone brightly the day after a smaller storm. What an unusual winter we are having! Today is the 8th snowstorm that has dropped measurable snow. So often our winters hold nothing but a flurry or two and some icy rain.

Something Wicked This Way Comes

I pulled this close up out of one of the frapping pictures from the other day. It's not totally sharp, but I could tell Jimmy had a great look on his face. It was all in good frapping fun, but boy, he sure has the devil in his eyes!

Yet Again

I hadn't even finished posting pictures from the weekend snowstorm, and we got dumped on AGAIN last night! I don't remember moving to the Snow Belt, but I guess we did.

Here are pictures from this morning's walk....

A view of my backyard as we head out for the trail....

The boys posing on the linear park behind my house. It's an old railroad bed converted to a regional park. It provides for some great walks as there is a paved side for bikes, etc., and a gravel side for horses and dog walkers.

I liked this next one just for the splash of color in an otherwise B&W world....

One of the paw prints in my heart...........

Wilson's Odd Habit

Wilson has an odd but rather endearing habit of rolling up in area rugs. When the mood strikes him, usually when he wants to play or he wants human attention, he starts by putting his head down/butt up and pushes along until his head is covered by the area rug. All the while he's making the silly little grunts and groans we all know as Cardi-speak. He then rolls around until his whole body is under the rug. He'll even do it with his heavy round bed. He especially loves it when we egg him on!

Here's a recent example....

In the upstairs office is a small round rug. Every single morning, before heading down to the kitchen, Wilson will go in and roll around on and under the rug. He even has to bypass the steps to get to the office. We have a running joke about how well he slept and how good the day will be based on how rumpled up the rug is left. Some days he rolls with extra gusto, others just a quick flip of one corner. It's really quite adorable.

Jimmy AKA The Geese Policeman

Down by the lake, one of Jimmy's favorite tasks is to keep the Canada geese off the grass and in the water where they belong!

Here, he surveys the task at hand.....

Sneaking a bit closer.....

And the attack! In warmer weather he will go into the water after them, but in this case received a firm recall as the air temp was somewhere around 20 degrees. A tad too chilly for a sopping wet dog.......

Another favorite activity down by the lake is eating the goose poop, whether fresh or frozen as it was this weekend. Fortunately the snow was deep enough it masked the location of said poops.

Another New Cardigan Blog!!!

I don't know if anyone else has posted about this new blog yet, so here goes:
