Wishy-Washy Weasel Words Won't Work When aWarding Wilson's Winner on Wordy Wednesday

The week has whirled past and it is time to announce the winner of my 1500th post giveaway! There's no way I can do that in a wordless manner!

Now, first I want to talk about my title today. I had never heard the phrase "weasel words" before I read it in a Clive Cussler novel I was reading the other night. Of course my Wordless Wednesday radar immediately alerted to something new I could use so I looked up the meaning of the phrase. It certainly wasn't something that would be easy to set to a photograph, but I think it works well in today's contest!

So, last week, I asked you to identify or guess what painting I thought my photograph resembled. Many of you picked up on it right away!

Monday Mischief: I Got Too Busy Last Friday !!!

Last Friday I was supposed to pull the winner of my giveaway for Jackie's newest book. You would think someone who is temporarily unemployed would have plenty of time to get that done and post about it. But, no, somehow the day got away from me. I did have a couple of phone interviews (yay!) as well as an agility lesson, and then unexpected plans for dinner. That left me with no blogging time and for that I do apologize. Then the weekend held a two day agility trial.....Time just flew by and here it is Monday.

Since I don't like to have a blog post without photos, I want to share some pictures I took last week along Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park last week. The day could not have been more gorgeous! Alas, the car ride and the hiking was too much to bring Jimmy and Wilson along on, so these are corgi-free photos! Gasp!

Wilson's Winner! on WORDY Wednesday

Well today is the day! I rolled the dice over at Random.org and.......

....but before I announce the winner I want to comment about this little contest. About a week ago, Elizabeth, at Chronicles of Cardigan  posted this very helpful piece about increasing traffic to your blog. She gave many good tips (Thanks Elizabeth!) but some of them definitely involved a good bit of effort. Well, I found a short-cut to getting TONS of traffic! Just put the word giveaway in your post. My blog is not what one would ever consider a high-traffic site, not even close. A new post  will garner about 25 page views over the course of a week. Last wednesday's giveaway post has had 260 hits so far! That's a tenfold increase! So if you want more readers, I highly recommend sprinkling the word giveaway liberally throughout your posts.

The other thing I found curious was that with so many hits, only 12 people decided to leave a comment. Maybe everyone gave up caffeine as their New Year's Resolution? Oh, well, it certainly improved the odds! Let me say thank you to each of you for playing my game. I really enjoyed reading your stories!
