....without the appearance of the
FOX! It makes for a couple of very excited dogs who will quickly disappear into the distance, on a fruitless chase. As a result, a leash is an absolute must!
Here are a few of my attempts at getting a picture. There isn't much time to get the camera ready and focused before these cunning little devils take off running! And try holding the leashes on two over-the-top dogs and get a steady picture. Pretty much can't do it!
Parents above, kits below.
The other morning, I saw the fox in the small woods behind my house, but the dogs did not. The wind must have been in the foxes favor, and the boys remained oblivious to his nearby presence. We walked on the paved path, the fox continued along beside us maybe 50 feet into the woods. The trail came out of the trees and back onto the normal sidewalks in front of the houses on my street. Still the fox followed. We crossed the street, sticking to the sidewalk in front of the houses. The fox crossed the street shortly after us and continued on
behind the same houses. As we passed the gap between each house, the fox would be there waiting for us to pass. He must have popped up between about four houses. Still, Jimmy and Wilson had no clue. It was truly quite amusing. Finally, the fox, tiring of the game I suppose, ran about two houses up and crossed the street in front of us. The boys did NOT miss that! And I was summarily dragged down the street!
Ha! Sound like you have a fox who is looking for some mischief! Great pictures by the way! You did very good for having 2 dogs with you!!
ReplyDeleteAmazing shots, especially while having the dogs with you!!
ReplyDeleteso cute! there are foxes in central park and we saw one while we were living in Manhattan. I imagine there might be a few in our large jersey city park but we have never seen one

How cool. I don't know if I would have gotten that close for pictures with Mr. N!
ReplyDeleteYou got some pretty darn good shots! Looks like they're straight out of a Nat'l Geographic!
ReplyDeleteYou got some great pictures considering the circumstances. I would LOVE to see one while out hiking. We've seen them a few times horse back riding. They are such smart creatures and it does seem this little fellow wanted the chase. Maybe he was in training for a Hunt coming up and needed to get in shape and practice some moves.
ReplyDeleteWow! My boys would freak out if they saw a fox! Pierre is a huge of the song about what the fox says however! Haha!
ReplyDeleteLOL! That fox sure weren't through a lot of trouble to get your boys to notice him, haha! Great photos! They're so cute.
ReplyDeleteSo cool! Not sure what mine would do if they saw a fox, but I'd consider myself pretty lucky to spot one!
ReplyDeleteCute pics! I'm sure Rita would go nuts if we had a fox in the 'hood!
ReplyDeleteFoxes are feral here, so are very good at staying out of sight. How nice to be able to watch them.

So neat! Our old neighborhood used to have a whole family of foxes. Made for some excellent proofing challenges!

BOL and we thought you got away with it. We have plenty of foxes here and likewise a leash is a must. Have a terrific Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
Very cool and great photos!
ReplyDeleteGreat pics! There were foxes by where I used to live, but only ever saw them roaming at night, and they'd be as quick as the wind!
ReplyDeleteOh pretty! We have the gray fox here in AZ - which most folks think are baby coyotes. It's pretty unusual to see one.

Beautiful shots. I love foxes, and think they are gorgeous. I am not very happy about them right now, as one killed one of my chickens the other day.
ReplyDeleteOh wow - Blueberry would lose her mind if she saw a fox - you should see her when she sees a coyote! Your fox trumps my silly horned toad pictures! Everything is so wonderfully green - we're all dried up here. I'm really impressed with the pictures you took despite the challenges in doing so!
ReplyDeleteWow! Those are some great photos especially when you had to be lightning fast AND hold on to two wild-and-crazy doggies! I've never seen a fox here though they say we have them.
