Follow-up Friday!

I've never tried a follow-up Friday post before. I guess I don't usually have many loose ends to report on. This week, however, is different. This week I had my follow-up appointment with the osteo doctor to see how it's going with my knee. This would be the appt. to determine if the healing was advancing properly, or would require surgery. Needless to say, I was a tad nervous. Surgery would mean another set back in getting back on my feet and on the road to agility with Jimmy. They took a new set of x-rays (in the last few months I've had so many x-rays, I just about glow in the dark!) and I am SO FREAKING HAPPY to report that the bone regrowth looked great! The doctor was actually surprised at how well it was healing. I guess all those yogurt smoothies as well as my calcium and omega-3 supplements really did help. YAY!

Of course, this does not mean I can get over-confidant and start running around the house without my crutches. I still need to baby myself. The brace on my leg has degrees of movement. For the past two weeks, my movement was set to zero, meaning my leg was completely straight all of the time. With this appt. I am now set at 20%. That's still not much, but it lets my knee move just enough to help loosen stiffness. A couple times a day, I am supposed to move it to 50% and bend my leg. So baby steps on the way to recovery... But at least I am on my way! It has done wonders for my mood as I definitely had a case of the blues.

Have a great weekend, Everyone!!!!

  8. That's great to hear!! Keep up with the calcium and following the doctor's orders, and you'll be ready to rock it at Nationals (which, by the way, I saw Jimmy's name on the list of qualifiers!!)!

  9. Hooray for no surgery! Hearing more details (the whole straight leg all the time, and being able to bend it once in a while) makes me realize how much we take for granted being able to run around! Hope you heal up quickly!
