Jimmy the Bull? Happy to sit and smell the roses, er, bluebells... |
Artist: Robert Lawson |
The bluebells bloomed earlier than I expected this year and the patch was much smaller than last year. I noticed them a few days back and knew I needed to hurry and catch them before the blooms subsided.
There were deer close by and I could not get the boys settled into modeling mode. It didn't help that I constantly had to remind them to stay with me and not run off after the deer. Here's what I got......
The expressions on their faces definitely show their discontent. They had much better things to do than deal with the annoying camera! |
Jimmy: Deer at one o'clock! I'm outta here! |
Wilson: If I sniff this leaf all cute and stuff, can we call it a wrap? |

And, NOW! The real reason you are here today......... Drum roll, please.........
But WAIT! First let me say Thank You! to everyone for taking the time to leave such great comments. It was a lot of fun to read some of the stuff your dogs ate. I'm glad all the dogs are OK!
I just counted the comments, leaving out the ones that were not actually entries, like Jackie's and her sister's, and came up with 35 qualifying comments. With that said.......

So! If BL (who commented on April 23rd at 1:00 am) who has the naughty parrot who feeds the dogs would please contact me at taryn(dot)tipton(at)gmail(dot)com, we can finalize the details. Congratulations on winning Jackie's book! You are going to love it!
Once again, thank you to everyone for participating!
Ha ha ha!😄 Wilson seems like Max in the caption ...just hurry up...I've got important pup stuff to handle! Beautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteOh duh...a big congrats to BL! I'm sure you'll love the book! I sure did!
ReplyDeleteLovely pix and we think the boys did well to pose and not run off and chase the deer. Have a terrific Thursday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
My copy of Ferdinand sits right on my shelf where I can see it once in a while. Also, a beloved children's story. Nice to know that I am not the only one who remembers.
ReplyDeleteRats! I didn't win, but congratulations to the one who did and thanks, Taryn, for the fun. I remember Ferdinand, and it's funny that you mention him. There is something about Darby, every now and then -- a way she walks, maybe -- that rings a little "Ferdinand" bell in my head. I can never quite put my finger on what it is about her, but it happens fairly often. Great photos. I've never seen bluebells in person.
ReplyDeleteBefore I retired I worked as an Elementary School Librarian. Ferdinand spanned the years, a classic. Thanks for the walk down memory lane.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures. Our mountain (foothills) are alive with color. I love it!
So glad you shared yours. My two favorite things, corgis and nature! They are such handsome boys!
Congratulations, BL!
ReplyDeleteFerdinand was always one of my favorite books. Hopefully the boys will give you another chance to take flower pictures? Although, those are really beautiful!
Sam
Oh, the "Ferdinand' pics are too cute. I especially love the first and last ones.
ReplyDeleteCongrats, BL - I hope you'll enjoy the book! I loved your funny story about your parrot feeding the dogs.
Thanks to everyone who participated. All the comments were so funny.
Great post today. I'm a big fan of children's literature and still have many of my fave's from my childhood. Nice Springtime banner!
ReplyDeleteLove the pics! Wilson and jimmy don't look too pleased with your photography :P
ReplyDeleteCongrats to BT!
They look gorgeous in the bluebells! They are good at posing for the camera! :)
ReplyDeleteOh what fun! That's a great book. :) And I love the bluebells! And of course I love your boys.
ReplyDeleteHaha - they do look a little irritated with the whole posing thing! I catch attitude like that from Blueberry too whenever there are critters running around.
ReplyDeleteI actually never read that book but you are right - I can see why the picture would remind you of the illustration - shockingly similar!!
Congratulations to the winner!
What beautiful bluebells! In spite of the deer distractions, you captured some nice photos. :-)

What a cute picture comparison, beautiful flowers too. He does look like Ferdinand. I remember reading that story as a kid but now I think I need to go back and re-read it

Beautiful bluebell photographs with your crew! Well who wouldn't be distracted by dinner.. er deer ;)
ReplyDeleteI love those photos! The bluebells are glorious and complement your wonderful pair beautifully. It is amazing how much that one photo is like the Ferdinand picture!
