Today was another agility trial, this time held by the Potomac Valley Golden Retriever Club in Westminster, Md. The courses were just middle-of-the-road level of difficulty w/ only one worrisome area in each. The day started with Standard. It was tire, dogwalk straight into the middle of a tightly curved tunnel. Fortunately we got our contact and the correct end of the tunnel. A tight pinwheel that included a broad jump was next. You never see broad jumps in the Excellent level courses but this judge is known for throwing them in. We made it past that, through the weaves, and over the Aframe and right onto the table. Good boy, Jimmy! Next, a chute with a very easy off course near it, made it past!, then teeter, jump, tunnel and three jumps in the home stretch at odd angles. We made it through cleanly and I didn't remember until a few minutes after the run that that was the 10th and final leg for our MX (Master Agility) title. Woohoo! And just to add a little excitement, we tied for 2nd place. The other competitor was running three dogs and didn't really want to do a run-off to see who would get the faster time, so we opted for a coin toss. I won so Jimmy took 2nd!
Not too much later it was, of course, time for Jumpers with Weaves. There was only one spot where I was worried about being able to plant my front cross in time and the rest was just running fast! We finished a respectable 7th place. So, lo and behold, another double-Q was had! Between the two runs we also pulled in another 33 points.
I didn't feel like bugging anyone with video taping my runs so I am afraid there's nothing visual for this post that is agility related. So I'll just leave you with the nice seasonal photo I snapped on Saturday morning. Once the Frankenstorm, as the media is calling Hurricane Sandy, has moved through the area, I doubt there will be many leaves left to photograph.
