Thanks for the Laugh, Gmail!

As I am sure most of you are aware, sites like Gmail/Google, Yahoo, and Facebook all collect information about what you search for and what you buy on the internet. They use this data to tailor the ads they display to you while you are on their websites. Targeted marketing as it's called......

So yesterday, as I do many times a day, I logged into my Gmail account. Here's what I saw for an advertisement targeted at me......Click to enlarge so you can read the first line of blue print to the right of the Compose button.

Let's see.... What's Your Jimmy Worth? Well, he's priceless, of course! Free online valuation. Fast Payment Sell Your Jimmy Fast, Safe, Fair ......But I don't want to sell my Jimmy even if it is fast and safe!

Now I know they are referring to a GMC Jimmy truck, but with the ad written as it is, it really gave me a good laugh! And of course, in it's own way, it's a bit appropriate given that I posed Jimmy with the plastic nameplate from a Jimmy truck.

So just be warned! Be careful where you go and what you look for on the internet, because someone is always watching! They might just try to sell your Jimmy!

  1. BOL! So true, someone is always watching! Have a great day!

  2. BOL - I like to do that with my husband. His ads come up for motorcycles, trucks, suits, etc, and once in a while I will look up cat products just to throw something different in there!

  3. BOL funny. We know Jimmy is priceless. Have a terrific Tuesday.
    Best wishes Molly

  4. Heh. Most of my ads are geared toward local dog trainers and pet supplies. But on Facebook I usually get to see a lot of ads for weightloss programs, which is odd as I have no intention of losing weight. Are they trying to tell me something?

  5. How funny! Some days my Jimmy is priceless; other days, I have thought of putting up a sign that says "free to a [good-crossed out] home"!
