Doing my part........

....to help get our economy back on track. Today, I bought myself an early birthday present. I've been wanting a digital SLR for awhile, especially after seeing some of the great photos some of the bloggers take. I have a nice little point/shoot Canon that I've been using for the past six months, but it just wasn't catching everything. The slow shutter response drives me nuts. Invariably, I get the side of the dog's face as he's looking away, and not the portrait I was trying for. So today I went to a real camera store, not Best Buy or the like, and let the salesman give me a lesson on the latest models. I've had good luck with my little Canons, and in the past I've had Nikon 35mm SLRs. After spending lots of time going over the Nikon D90 (too expensive!), the new Nikon D5000, and this Canon Rebel T1i, I decided I liked the Canon best. I've had a blast learning to use it this afternoon! We have a vacation coming up in a couple of weeks and I didn't want to wait for my real birthday (Sept) to make the purchase or I would be missing out on an awesome photo op! I do feel a bit quilty splurging like this.....I hope I can entertain everyone soon with some great photos......once the learning curve is over that is!
