The Weekend Report - A Double Q....Sort Of

Well, today was a good day! Wilson, Jimmy and I went to the Mattaponi Kennel Club's All-Breed Dog Show and Obedience/Rally Trial. We were trying for our 3rd legs on the Rally Novice titles. It was a large Novice A class with 15 dogs, held in a grassy field. I find it interesting that with Rally you get a course map, and then have plenty of time to go off and practice. There wasn't too much I was worried about other than keeping noses out of the grass. There were plenty of direction changes, and I almost went the wrong way with Jimmy's 360 to the left. Wilson went first in the class, and Jim went near the end, so it was easy to keep them from worrying about each other. And as it turned out both boys scored a 95! This score was good enough to tie them for 2nd place. Jimmy was a second or two faster so he earned the 2nd place ribbon, Wilson the 3rd. Having each earned two legs at the National Specialty last month, the legs today finished off our Rally Novice titles. Yay! So, see, it was sort of a double-Q today, right?

Wilson is now Caduceus Castaway Wilson RN HT AXP AJP NF....plus his CGC.
Jimmy is now Fine Creek's Sharp Dressed Man RN HT MXJ AX OF....plus his CGC.

Here are the guys posing with all the ribbons they earned...one for placing, one for qualifying and one for our new title.

I am proud of my boys!
One of the great things about these large all-breed conformation shows is all the vendors! There are many more than you would ever see at an agility trial. Jimmy and Wilson each got a well-deserved knuckle bone.

Living the T-Shirt Life - Volume Four.....but NCC*

* No Corgi Content

Today is National Bike to Work Day!

Today is  National Bike to Work Day. Living, as I do,  right on the W and OD Bike Trail/Park , which is a major bicycle commuter route, I thought I would participate in today's event. It was a well-coordinated effort and if you pre-registered for the event, you got a t-shirt. Who doesn't love a free t-shirt?! I often walk the dogs along the horse trail that runs parallel with the paved bike trail so I know the usual volume of bikes going to work in the morning. There was very definitely a big uptick in the amount of riders out there today! As part of the event, there are pit-stops scattered throughout the region. There was one about three miles from my house, so that's where we headed to pick up our t-shirts, etc. They were providing fruit, snacks, drinks, etc.

Now, I work for a great company that allows us to work from home at least one day a week. Friday is my usual day, so I can't really say I biked to my office (a 17 mile ride!), but I did bike to "work" since I rode home after checking out the pit-stop.

Did anyone else ride a bike to work today?

My Teacup Shepherd

As many of you have probably experienced, when you take your Cardigan Welsh Corgis out in public, you will often be asked what kind of dogs they are. Well, to be more accurate, you are usually asked what kind of mix or mutt they are. (Although, I have to say, more and more people do seem to be able to identify Cardigans for who they are.) Of course, this brings out the prankster in me. In this day and age of designer dogs, it can be pretty easy to pull the wool (or would that be dog hair) over someone's eyes......

Let me provide an example.......

An all-black German Shepherd Dog

My Teacup Shepherd
You would be surprised how many people will ask where they can get one! Oops!

While writing this post I googled "Teacup Shepherd". And, lo and behold, there really is such a creature! It's the tiniest version of an Australian Shepherd. Under 10 inches and weighing between 4 and 9 pounds....so I guess Jimmy doesn't qualify!

A Cardigan Pushmi-Pullyu?

If you remember the original Doctor Dolittle movie, there was a character called the Pushmi-Pullyu (pronounced "push-me—pull-you") , a double-headed llama....

Well, I think I spotted the Cardigan version in Ashburn this week, and was lucky enough to capture it on camera!
