I Think He Likes It!

Jimmy got a moose antler in his stocking. It now goes everywhere he goes. He carried it upstairs to bed last night and brought it back down in the morning. He wants to be sure it doesn't get lost, as well as keep it safe from Wilson. In truth, Wilson wouldn't even consider touching something of Jimmy's, but Jimmy is taking no chances!

Is it ever too cold...?

Despite having a fenced backyard (in which Wilson is loath to poop!), I almost always take the boys for a bedtime walk around the neighborhood. Since they always get a very long walk in the morning before work, I let them choose their evening walk. In the summer when it's been very hot and the sidewalks are still radiating lots of heat, they will often just trot to the corner, peeing once or twice along the way, and head home for the a/c. Other nights, they will zig-zag around for a few blocks, returning home in 15 or 20 minutes.
So why, last night, on an evening when it is 21 degrees with 25-30 mph winds, do they decide that the full 2 mile circle around the neighborhood is appropriate? I mean, really, don't they ever get cold?

Long walk or short, I knew it was going to be cold, so I prepared. I had on an undershirt covered by a long-sleeve T, long underwear pants covered with sweat pants, over all of that I pulled up my ski bibs, a hoody sweatshirt, my winter ski coat, and a hat with hoods pulled up over that and a scarf. And of course heavy gloves....
I looked something like this:

A First....

In Saturday's mail I received an envelope with a return address from a name I didn't immediately recognize. When I opened it, I realized it was from my agility instructor, using her new last name. She has just gotten married and I did not know what her new last name is.

Anyhow, in the envelope, was an invitation to a wedding reception/open house in January. It had the usual info of when and where with just one caveat: Well-behaved dogs may accompany their owners! How cool is that?

How about you? Have you ever been invited to a wedding reception that included your dogs?

Middleburg Christmas Parade

Yesterday was the Middleburg Christmas Parade, well known by corgi-folk, as they have a marching section called the Corgi Brigade. It was a cold and sunny day with a very large crowd. We barely made it into town on time due to the traffic jam on Rt.50. Last year's parade had the magic of a rare snowfall so it was hard to match that ambiance this year, but we still had fun. We parked on the east side of town and had to head west to the staging parking lot. The street was already closed down and lined with many people. Jimmy pranced and danced along, greeting selected folks as he went along. He was truly in his glory as if he was a one-dog parade and everyone was there to see him.

The parade starts with the Hunt coming through town:

Here are a few of the Cardis, ready to join the parade:

And here they are on the main street:

And finally, an adorable Pemmie, decked out with a Christmas Tree Saddle:

Somewhere West of the Mississippi

Ok, I was down to the deadline, but I did send my Cardi-Claus package on it's way today. All I'll say is that it is headed to someone west of the Mississippi :-) Should be there in 2 to 3 days.
